In the last year of doing events (mostly kiddie parties as of late), I have seen how common, certain common themes have really been. There’s not a little girl who didn’t have a unicorn, or a rainbow, or a flamingo themed party in a week or a month right? Or one who didn’t have a boho teepee kind of party, or a safari themed one.
This year, I’ve had an influx of boy party styling inquiries and I was challenged to put a twist to the common themes by infusing something unique in each of them.
Here’s some of our minimalist, fun ideas on how you can reinvent a common party theme (especially for boys)!
1. Summer themed parties in Summer!
The best season to throw that garden or summer inspired theme is of course, during summer. And this recent summer, we did two fun parties for Odil and Harvey- where we infused that summer beach vibe in their guess what- CHARACTER THEMED PARTIES!
For Odil’s 11th Bday- we recreated the Kame house where Goku held his trainings. Completing the look were real coconuts, faux coconut trees and of course that cutesy house which was a sure hit for the kids!
Then there’s the very common Pokemon, but since we wanted to be innovative, we threw Harvey a beach themed Pokemon party! Don’t you think seeing Pikachu and the rest of the gang enjoying their summer coolers just soooo cute??
2. Go bold with colors.
One of our favorite clients is Mommy Lourdes of little Daehan, because she’s just really too creative she never runs out of great ideas for her little one. We collaborated in throwing Daehan a Wild one bash, with not your usual boho color palette. Instead we went brown, navy blue and orange- giving that all Indian but clean feel for Daehan’s party.
We especially loved workingon those table centerpieces, that completed the look we were aiming for.
One of our most memorable boy parties will definitely be Kendric’s Beatles party inspired by his own love affair with the Beatles at such a young age. You see, little Kendric from the time he was in Mommy Mae’s womb, would only pacify when he hears the music of The Beatles. So when he turned one, we threw him a Beatles inspired party and played the Beatles music all day long. Of course we did it retro style but with bold loud colors for that fun party feel!
3. Think out of the box and do as you please, after all, it’s your party!
When Mommy Joie told us about her plans for Jayden’s farm party- we couldn’t help but feel so excited about the activities she wanted to line up for everyone! Personally, I kind of worried whether guests will have enough time going around trying out all the activities in such a huge space- but boy was I so wrong! Everyone had their hands full, not missing a single activity to try in Jayden’s unforgettably fun farm party!
Another thing I love about hands on parents in planning their kids parties, is how daddies especially, get so giddy about executing their ideas for their little ones. For this Star Wars themed party for Liam, his dad, a true blue Star Wars fan made sure we rehearsed and perfected their grand entrance, complete with the lightsaber sound effect when he clicks on the sword! Too geeky but so adorable!
Next year, we already have little boy party clients we can’t wait to sprinkle with our minimalist and fun approach to styling boy parties just like the ones we have already done! We hope you liked (or even loved) some of these ideas!
